Arunachal’s people upset over Ering’s slur on Ramdev

ITANAGAR, Feb 19:  Thousands of followers of Yog Guru Ramdev apparently got upset by the abusive words allegedly used by an MP against Ramdev at yoga camp organised at Higher secondary school ground, Pasighat early  morning today.

According to  sources,   the  MP Ninong Ering who was attending the yogo camp,  suddenly  stood up and allegedly used unparliamentarily and derogatory words  when the yoga guru was highlighting the corruption in the country.  Ramdev has been visiting Arunachal Pradesh since Feb 15 and asking people to fight against corruption.

“ The  unconstitutional,  rowdy act and the use of un-parliamentary words  by Ninong Ering, son of a legendary figure late Daying Ering,  to a selfless person is not appreciable. He has really ashamed the people of Pasighat in particular and Arunachal Pradesh in front of the world’, said  Vijay Taram of Pasigaht, one of the participants in the camp.

“There were thousands of people including men, women, children from far flung areas to get a glimpse of Baba and listen to his lessons, but everyone was enraged and hurt when a person used the dialogue of the colonial rulers against the Yog Guru.  The people  present there lost a chance for a lifetime to take full advantage of  the yoga camp  that is conducted by a pious Sadhu, who does not want anything in return for working 24 hours for mankind and our country, said Taram , who is also spokesperson of  the Forum for Siang Dialogue.

“The issue of corruption is a big national issue. Ram Dev Baba has done nothing wrong while speaking on corruption.  The conduct of the MP was unnecessary. Ering brought bad name to the entire Pasighat town as well as entire Arunachal Pradesh,’ said another participant Lorem Taloh, who is also a local NCP leader.

“The insult to Guruji was an insult to our own state. It has brought shame not only to Pasighat’s people but also the state. I don’t have any personal issues with the MP nor am I Baba’s bhakt. But this incident has really shocked me because I see what Baba Ramdev is doing is for our own good,” said one Agam Borang, a citizen of Pasighat.

Taking a dig at Congress M.P Ninong Ering for using filthy words against Yoga guru Swami Ramdev , BJP National Secretary Tapir Gao termed it as uncalled for by a politician of his status.

“Insulting a person like Swamiji is condemnable by all sections of the society, that too by a son of a famous politician of the state – Daying Ering, who is considered as the father of Arunachal”, Gao told a press conference here today.

He said the incident would send a wrong impression on the Congress Party when the district is celebrating 100 years of its existence, Gao added

The Peoples' Party of Arunachal  also expressed shock at derogatory remarks made on Ramdev by  an Parliamentarian.

Being representative of the people in the Parliament the MP should respect the democratic values of the country too. “Our democracy has granted us right to expression, criticism and dissent. The elected leaders need to be very tolerant and even receptive to any criticism, the PPA general Secretary  Ashan Riddi said. PPA also appealed to MP to make apology to Ramdev.

The members of Tassar Mangha Charitable Society strongly condemned the ‘insanity behaviour’ of Ering. The Society  said, the MP should  make apology to the citizens  of the country.

Ering apologizes, says yoga camp should be yoga oriented

When contacted, MP Ering admitted “my behavior was not good, that is very unfortunate”. In a written statement the MP further said that he met Baba and apologized for the incident. He also begged pardon to the Pasighatians if his act displeased them.

He further clarified that he did never use any vulgar and unparliamentarily word on the day.The MP suggested that Yoga Camp should be Yoga oriented and appealed Ramdevji not to mix politics with Yoga in such shivirs.

Giving  details of the unpleasant happening, the MP further clarified that he felt embarrassed when the Ramdev raised corruption and political issues in his address at the Yoga camp at Pasighat. “Such comments of Ramdev were unexpected and unacceptable by me in a Yoga Shivir where the people of Pasighat and adjacent public were attending the camp to learn Yoga. He claimed the conversation held with Guru Ramdev was simple and convincing and no one should twist it for political gain.

The MP Ering  further stated that he has full faith and regards in mind for the world’s best Yoga Guru Ramdevji for his clean image and noble efforts and being inspired he was attending the Shivir this morning.
